Gameplay Mechanics

There are two types of aliens. The twist: your gaze affects them differently. Look at your weapon to charge. Look at enemies to shoot. All control is done with your eyes, including aiming and looking around.

Hunters: Accelerate when you're watching. Look away to slow them down.

Shadows: Accelerate when you're not watching. Stare to slow them down.

Power-Ups and Dynamics

🔋 Turbo Charge

Faster reload times for rapid-fire situations. Essential for high-intensity waves.

❄️ Frost Shock

Temporarily freezes all aliens, giving you precious seconds to strategize.

⚠️ Difficulty and alien frequency increase over time. Ammo is scarce, pressure rises.

The game rewards focused, strategic play under mounting pressure.

My Learnings & Download

Alien Peekaboo started as an experimental gaze-controlled horror shooter using Tobii Eye Tracking. I learned how to integrate eye tracking input seamlessly into gameplay, adapting UI and mechanics for a hands-free experience. The biggest challenge was ensuring precise and intuitive gaze targeting without overwhelming the player. Balancing alien behaviors and power-ups under these constraints took a lot of iteration and testing.
